Township of Madawaska Valley Appoints New Chief Administrative Officer/Clerk

Mayor Kim Love and the Council for the Township of Madawaska Valley are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Doug Robertson to the position of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)/Clerk on August 9, 2017.

Mayor Love commented, “After a comprehensive and lengthy search, Council voted unanimously in favour of hiring Mr. Robertson and we are all very pleased to have him join the dedicated team of staff here at the Township. We are confident that Doug is an excellent fit for the community and that he has the strong people skills and organizational insights needed to lead our team in achieving the Township’s vision.”

Mr. Robertson is an experienced municipal government administrator with over 25 years of diverse service. Throughout his career he has demonstrated extensive skills including strategy development and implementation, business and financial planning, contract management, and applying legislation in a municipal environment. As Executive Officer to the CAO in the City of Waterloo, he provided direct policy development, project management and change management expertise to the CAO and Corporate Management Team. In addition to other post-secondary education, Mr. Robertson holds a Master of Business Administration degree with concentrations in organizational effectiveness and marketing.

Mr. Robertson is passionate about consulting and collaborating with Council, staff and community members to deliver effective and efficient government services that satisfy critical community needs. “I’m honoured by the Mayor and Council’s confidence in me and I’m very excited about joining them, staff and community representatives in serving the people of this community. It is a tremendous privilege to be a part of this team,” he said.

As a husband and father with two children, Doug is also looking forward to enjoying the many lakes and trails with his family that the township offers. He enjoys cycling, skiing, hiking, wilderness camping and photography. “I couldn't ask for a more beautiful place to experience my favourite outdoor activities while introducing my two sons to the unbelievable scenery here”, he commented. “Madawaska Valley has such an incredibly rich heritage and natural beauty. I am very thankful for the opportunity to live, work and play in such an amazing place.”
